Netti helps with the seasonal cleaning

Hey everyone, I'll tell you, it's soooo boring right now. The hotel is closed, no guests, no children in the stable or the house. If it weren't for the odd riding student from Serfaus or Fiss coming by our riding stable now and then, it would be totally dead around here. Out of sheer boredom, I trotted over to Hotel Darrehof in the village of Serfaus the other day … just to see if there's more going on there than at our horse stable!

So in I went into the hotel, and the first thing I saw … light in the office … what a joy, there are still people in the hotel. There sat Chryseldis and Christa in front of the computers. "What are you doing? There aren't any guests in the hotel right now," I asked innocently. "Oh Netti, do you really think that means there's no work to do?" they both answered. "Requests, messages, deposits, and phone calls still come into the house every day. And during the off-season, there's a lot of work that there's little or no time for when guests are staying with us. So now we can calmly maintain the website, revise various booking portals, and prepare newsletters and blog posts. All of this is work that isn't directly tied to the guests currently in the house," Christa explained to me.

Aha, that's quite something, I had to look into this more closely and asked whether I could help them a little … oof, that turned out to be far too complicated for me pretty quickly. Chryseldis wanted to cheer me up with a little chocolate, "brain food," she said!

Thank goodness Christa then gave me the tip that there are even more busy bees here in the hotel, and that I should go check on them … so first I ran to the indoor pool, where Romana and Barbara were right in the middle of the biannual big clean. No water in the pool at all, which felt strange. But I quickly organised a cleaning rag and a bucket my own size, put on something suitable, and got to work … phew, I really worked up a sweat. But I was soooo proud of myself when everything sparkled and shone afterwards!

Fully motivated, I moved on to Marta, our housekeeper, who was just putting the finishing touches on the apartments and rooms. All the apartments and rooms get completely turned upside down by our cleaning staff at the end of every season and scrubbed spotless so they look brand new. All the furniture is then treated with natural oils, and the entire inventory of the apartments is checked over so that everything is functional, tidy, and complete. I lent a very hardworking hand!

Shortly before the first guests arrive again in a month, everything gets thoroughly vacuumed and dusted once more, and only then does all the linen and other textiles go back into the apartments and rooms.

What an exciting day that was! And now I can hardly wait for our first guests to move back into the rooms and apartments … maybe I'll even get a little praise for how beautifully I cleaned the "Lavendel" apartment.
