Oh wow, what glorious weather … spring is in the air! At long last the patches of snow in our village of Serfaus are slowly disappearing. The snow can stay up on the mountains, I finally want spring, lush green meadows and wonderfully fragrant spring flowers.
Lost in thought, I trot into the village on my short little stubby legs. The air smells so wonderfully of spring that I even happily skip the village underground and walk instead. Suddenly, a cold breeze hits me from the right. Surprised, I look up and see the snow on the mountains … must be a cold snow-wind blowing down from up there.
Hmm, I wonder what it really looks like up there now that spring is slowly arriving in the village? In a flash I’m on my way to the Komperdell cable car. Oh, so many skiers still in their winter outfits – something doesn’t add up … so, up the mountain we go … lucky me, the Masner Express is just about to leave and I’m allowed to hop on …. Wow, up on Komperdell it’s already really cold and there’s sooo much snow!!!
So off we go into the Masner area. Thank goodness the converted piste groomer has good heating. And then my eyes nearly pop out of my head … deep mid-winter, unbelievable! Such a magnificent winter landscape … as much as I’m looking forward to spring, this is pretty impressive too! How can it be that within half an hour you’re suddenly in a completely different world … um … and above all in a completely different season!
I poke my nose out of the piste groomer for a moment … arrgh … way too cold!!! So straight back with the Masner Express and down the mountain, back into spring.
On my way back to the riding stables I make a quick stop at the hotel – it’s pretty handy that our hotel is located directly opposite the “Zentrum” underground station. I immediately bump into Romana, who is just in the middle of redecorating the house.
Such beautiful spring flowers … but right next to the winter decorations …??? … What’s that all about??? Romana just says: “Well, that reflects the change of seasons here … for us it’s simply the way it is – we have winter and spring at the same time in one place.” Oh, how right she is!
